Chapter one - http://stage.co.il/Stories/367596

Lycanthropy: a human who willingly or unwillingly change
into the form of an animal.
The most common form known of Lycanthropy is of a wolf.
In some stories it is believed that a werewolf only changes
into a wolf when it's a full moon. In other stories a
werewolf can change form between human and wolf when ever he
feels like it. In all stories a silver bullet is mentioned
to be capable of hurting them. In some stories they are
considered to be the day time guardians of the vampires.
Other facts drawn from these fantasies are their tough skin,
strength, extremely strong teeth, large built in wolf form
and hunger.
What I was searching to see is how much does mankind
actually know about werewolves, and how or when or where it
all began. And according to what I found, it goes back to
the 17th century but not before that. I am talking about
sightings, speculations and to be honest - myths.
Almost all mythical creatures started from being slaves,
servants or helpers of the gods. That wasn't the case with
lycanthropy.
Vampires are very few these days, Mere thousands all over
the world. Lycans are even less in numbers. I can't account
for exactly how many there are, but I can say for sure not
more than a few hundreds and the numbers are going down all
the time. Vampires tend to kill them on sight these days and
basically for the last 200 years or so. Vampires created
them (I am not going to touch the moral issue, I will just
tell the story).
Around the 16th century vampires got tired of being hunted
by humans during day-time while they are most vulnerable.
The vampires with the more scientific mind were asked to
think of a way to stop the day-hunters without making them
angrier at vampires. After a while this group of "science
vampires" told the vampire community they had the perfect
solution. What they explained to the community (they
actually believed it would work) and the result at the end
are two totally different things. According to the
explanation to the vampire community, they could take a
small number of animals around the world, place in each
vampire community one of them and let the humans hunt them
and not vampires. The animal strength and speed compared to
humans' would surely grow compared to vampires if they were
turned to a vampire beast.
To make sure it wasn't a mistake, they decided to take one
animal for experiments (the biggest wolf they could find).
They chained the animal and started the transformation
process. At first it all seemed well. In the first few
moments, the vampire blood took over the control inside the
blood veins, but something wasn't right. During the hours
that came after that, the beast was not moving. If it didn't
move the eyes it could have been presumed to be dead. So
they left it in the same spot, going every night hunting for
blood like nothing had happened. One thing they didn't know
in the 16th century was that human and animal blood and DNA
are different.
What happened was this... the vampire blood took over the
body of the beast in a moment or two, But failed to
transform the beast DNA into a vampire DNA. The result was a
very sick puppy (literally). Nothing was transformed
physically and the wolf was in agonizing pain. The vampire
blood could not merge itself in the body to create a whole
new creature. Instead, the wolf DNA changed the DNA of the
vampire blood, but the two DNAs still could not merge. Since
it couldn't merge with the body, it mixed itself with the
outgoing fluids such as sweat, tears, urine and feces. The
main fluid that's in concern here is sweat. The wolf had
less than a month to live from the moment it was
contaminated. About two weeks after the vampires had left it
there and forgot about it, a human passed in the area. He
didn't spot the wolf until it was too late and the wolf
jumped him. The man got away but not before the wolf
scratched him a few times pretty deeply.
It was eight days before the next full moon. The guy went
home to his farm. The next day he woke up without a scratch.
After the first full moon he woke up discovering his wife
and kid are dead from giant bites of some animal in their
beds. He didn't add up that the dream he was having was
real. A few months later he decided to move to the big city,
'cause once a month on a full moon too much of his animals
died by a mysterious beast.
In the city, once every full moon, he would turn into a
giant wolf that could walk on four but also on two as it
pleased. That wolf downsized dogs, cats and horses in the
city. The town people decided to go hunt the beast that came
once a month. When the next full moon came the wolf came but
the town people fought back and they killed the giant wolf,
but not before it managed to scratch a group of nine people
before it died. The people left the place but the nine
stayed. They were hurt and in pain. They started feeling a
fever spreading over their body, and then they had seen
something disturbing. Instead of the beast, on the same
spot, in the same way the beast was on the floor, a person
lay. Shocked at that view, they turned home. A month later,
on the full moon, about ten times the amount of animals died
by a beast. It didn't take them long after that to figure
out that they were "cursed". Each of them took as much as
their back could carry and they all left the city. Nine
people to nine different directions.
Needless to say the lycans grew in numbers over the next
hundred years.
They had almost the same strength as the vampires; not the
same speed of movement as vampires but ridiculously agile
none the less. However, their hearing was so great no
creature could compete with it, not even get close. Their
sight was as sharp as the vampires.
Lycans travel by themselves, but when they stay in one place
they are a very large group.
Their lives were also immortal like the vampires. But they
can stay out in the light, something the vampires could
never do.
We could say that the two species are "distant cousins".
Many of them control themselves while being a lycan. But
many of them could not control it.
During the 17th century, some of the vampires decided to
hunt them down and try to correct the mistake they had
done.
When lycans found out that the legendry creatures called
vampires are hunting them down, they started doing the same
to the vampires.
After a short time, it was obvious that one on one, the
vampires triumphed. They concluded that it's because the
vampires are stronger. It was actually because the vampires
controlled their advantages, like speed of movement, speed
of sight and strength almost to perfection. But the fights
weren't so easy and took a long time to finish.
Lycans had a much harder skin than vampires and they were
also bigger in size.
Both sides also found out that biting each other is out of
the question. The reason for that was that the blood of a
vampire and the blood of the lycan, mixed together,
chemically canceled one another killing either side on the
spot.
During the last 200 years or so lycans went into hiding,
knowing their numbers are short.
All that aside, they are also going mental. Not because of
moral issues with society like vampires have, but because
they either can't control themselves as lycans and it's
giving them nightmares, or they are struggling so hard with
every sane thought in their mind to control while being a
lycan.
Around the middle of the 18th century, a few lycans decided
to build a family. They turned a few women lycan, and
started having kids, trying to raise them as normal humans.
When the kids reached maturity they started transforming on
every full moon. They had everything other lycans had with
one difference: They were born lycan. That gave them control
to transform every time they wanted to. It also gave all of
them control while they were in their lycan form. They still
struggled for sane thoughts like the rest, 'cause of all the
horrors they did while in lycan form, but they managed to
control their actions better than non-born lycans.

Physically, lycans are hard skinned. They heal very fast,
almost as fast as a vampire. When it comes to bullets that
penetrate their body, they have a special "ability": Their
body actually helps with the healing process by removing any
foreign objects that are inside the body the same way it
came in.
Silver bullets are a myth. Around the start of the 20th
century this guy shot a chain of rounds on a lycan. If the
lycan was barely alive it could have healed itself, but the
lycan died before the guy finished the round of bullets. The
bullets were made mostly of silver 'cause this guy owned a
silver mine. I don't think I need to say what he concluded
from all this and later spread around. You can figure that
for yourselves.

I sincerely advise anyone who reads this: Don't be a lycan
if you can help it, or you will have trouble keeping your
sanity 24 hours a day.
Not only that, but you will be either hunted or killed on
sight by a vampire.

Trust me... human is the best form.
