I
It's late, but he doesn't want to go
He wants her, but she doesn't know
And he's looking at her watching something else
Everything inside him tells him that it's right
Every time she stares curiously into the night
And she's so pale and fragile that he's scared
He's afraid he'll break her if he touched
He wants to be close to her so much
II
It's late, but he doesn't want to go
He looks at her, but she doesn't know
And again he battles with himself
His feelings clashing with his thoughts
Should he do what's fair or what he wants
And he's watching her while she does her hair
He wants to brush it from her eyes
Hold her right there where she lies
III
It's late, but he doesn't want to go
He thinks about her, but she doesn't know
And he knows that she's not ready now
He knows it's not the time or place
Too many obstacles to face
But he wants to lean over and kiss her
And for just a moment put all that away
Maybe in some other day |
