Centuries ago, when man was not even considered, and even
the fathers of the first elves were still young as the newly
sprouting flower, a race of wise and strong creatures roamed
the land, sky and waters of the realm. Their unlimited
intelligence and wisdom, along with their powerful magic and
physical power, they were made ones not to forget. The
children of the first elves named them, Bpadolq;
''Rulers of all'' in their ancient language, now known in
the simple yet powerful name of the dragons. Those creatures
were keepers of peace and order between the mortals in the
newly shaped world. But soon after the man was borne and the
Age of Chaos has began. Things began to change, and evil has
stolen creations. The drow, deurgars and orcs came to be,
and many more creatures of that kind. But not only the
mortals were affected by the dreaded plague. Even the gods
and ancient races were infected - along with them the
ancient rulers, the dragons. New evil types of dragons
appeared, and among them the most ferocious of all beings,
mortal and immortal. Soon enough the ancient rulers have
also fallen into a long war, but unlike the childish
mortals, this one ended soon, for even the chaotic dragons
had some wits.

Soon enough the good and evil dragons attended new shapes
and sizes. Among them came to be the ferocious and dark
black dragons of the realm. They, as any other kind of
dragon, settled separately from other dragons, and even of
their own kind, and especially from mortals. but one of the
blacks, Fushtal the Horror, has turned against his own kind
by doing forbidden deeds. Soaring throughout the realm, he
sought mortals with a black heart like his, who wanted
power. Few say those mortals were actually large bands of
elves, which later on became the fathers of the first drow.

Joined up with other traitor black dragons of his kind,
Fushtal terrorized the land and endangered order. However,
this state did not remain unnoticed for long. The copper and
golden dragons threatened the blacks who did not recruit
with Fushtal, and demanded them to order Fushtal to seize
his attacks. The blacks, afraid of the stronger golds (later
on the black dragons received more power when more and more
dark mortals came to be, necromancers, black sorcerers and
such), turned to Fushtal and demanded that he stop. But his
proud dragon heart did not let him give up. Insulted by his
kin's cowardice, he decided that a blacks' holocaust will be
carried out. In a few months he has managed to assassinate
dozens of his black brothers, sending drake assassins all
around the world. The black dragon kind has then broken into
war. The blacks gathered their greatest skills and magic to
fight Fushtal with, and he, who was forbidden by the enraged
pantheons of balance to use his magics, gathered gigantic
hosts of mortal armies, commanded by black drake and dragon
generals. Still in need to secure his victory, Fushtal has
supplied each of his soldiers with one gem from his hide
armor. Due to this, he has lost his natural hide and
protection, and unable to fight he settled in a swampy cave
(a downfall for black dragons of that time), cowering away,
waiting for his minions to win his angering war.

Now the pantheons of chaos and order were as enraged as the
pantheons of balance. This gave them a reason to stop this
filthy war. On the exact instant when the first black dragon
magic hit the first black dragon hide mail, there was a huge
explosion. Those who survived the small-scale apocalypse
have ran away in different directions. The war was stopped a
moment after it has began. Mortals were fleeing towards
Fushtal's swampy lair, and all of the blacks were feeling
towards their ancient homes. However, the gods were still
unpleased, seeing the next chance of break of war. The
mortals were made cowards, and started running in different
directions, throwing all of their equipment away while they
flee. It was said by those few who believed it, that after a
few years, those vengeful band of mortals were elves who
inspired by Fushtal, betrayed their brothers, and became the
first drow beings.

The blacks who followed Fushtal were forced to flee to the
deepest of the realm's caves, and lived for ages and
centuries near the core of the earth, unbothered all this
time. The gods decided to teach the black dragons, who were
future to start a similar war, a lesson. They were forced to
live on the swamps of the realm for all eternities, to
remind them of Fushtal shame and fear after starting this
war.

As for Fushtal, the pantheons left him to rot in his hiding
place, never leaving his dreaded home, afraid from any
moving creature. But the gods have planned a different death
for him. They have created a young mortal champion and
ordered him to go on a search for Fushtal. The Horror's
death was the most humiliating death a dragonkind could
have, hiding like a rat in a hole, fearing that the small
mortal would find and slay him. In the end, the young
champion slew Fushtal with ease, and took his head. As
another lesson for dragonkind, the gods commanded the mortal
champion to cut Fushtal's head and put it on the top of the
swampy cave, which later turned to a temple of deepness. The
dragon's head forever remained on the top of the temple,
leaving a mark to all of dragonkind, and a reminder of
Fushtal, for they shouldn't ever again repeat his mistake.

Time passed, and Fushtal's temple was renown as the Deep
Temple, lost forever in the tomes of ancient history. The
temple was buried under the surface of the realm, near the
core of the earth, sealed with many magical locks, to
prevent from any mortal to ever again reach the tomb and
reveal the secrets lying within. Yet only one parchment was
written of this tomb. Obtained first by the deep dragons,
and later on lost in their graveyards, forever to be
searched by adventurers and betrayers. |
