דיאנה כהן / Spine of the earth |
Last night I dreamed of a river
that ran through my chest
The water was dark
yet inside it shimmered
fragments of constellations
waiting to be found
you met me there
barefoot
your hands dripping with roses
that had never seen soil
when you touched me
the petals turned into fireflies
Glowing
and they clung to my hair
like a crown
They say love is mortal
but i know better
It is a spell
Older than scripture
When your hand touched mine
i could hear the witches
who died before us
singing through the wind
their voices braided into ours
a melody only the night could hear
This is not a love poem
this is a resurrection
between dream and flesh
I have learned
that hope is not gentle
it is the moon pulling
oceans through my veins
It arrives like floodwater
splits the spine of the earth
devours the name you once
carried like charms
You will drown in it
you will rise stranger
With salt in your lungs
And stars tangled in your hair
In my dream you said:
Love,
resurrection demands a sacrifice
