God gave us heaven, wrapped in soil and song
Rivers of mercy, where nothing felt wrong
We drank from the sky, we slept in the light
But we wanted more
so
we started to fight
We carved up the silence, we poisoned the wells
We named every boundary, then built it to sell
We worshipped the blade, the crown and the shell
God gave us heaven
We made it our hell
What is man but a flame in the wind
Turning gardens to graves, again and again
We prayed for peace with blood on our hands
Built towers of ash upon broken lands
They whispered in twilight: "You are the light"
But we chose the darkness, we called it our right
We fed on fear, we called it control
And crowned the machine as the god of the soul
(You chose war over love)
Heart, silence, breath that remains
We were stars before we learned to give names
There's a bird still singing in the smoke
There's a truth that survives every joke
God gave us heaven, a seed in the sand
We broke it, betrayed it, with fire and hand
Now we lie in the ruins, still begging for grace
Still searching for Eden in a war zone base
If we stand before god when the silence has grown
We'll say, "We shattered your heaven to build us a throne."
We crowned ourselves kings with the ashes you gave
Then buried our children in the holes that we made
And heaven still waits... but we don't hear the bell
God gave us heaven
We made it our hell |
