The sun came out, and my left arm is across my eyes,
allowing just a squinting glare, watching some clouds,
scattered about, bright skies, and I'm fading away, swinging
back and forth in my old time rocking chair.
It's too hot, the sun is beating down upon my skin, drops of
sweat gather on my chest, brown skin with the shine of
sweat. Breathing heavily, naked, bare, no wasted movement,
not going anywhere, just swinging back and forth in my old
time rocking chair.
She's coming over, her steps are calm, not hurried, not
scared, she's near me, she hides the sun away, I just stare.
"Thought you might like this" she says, I take the cold beer
and smile at her, she smiles back and walks away. I keep my
smile on, I can smile all day, swinging back and forth in my
old time rocking chair.
I'm in this moment, and figuring out how to feel it while
it's there, to sense this life, touch the air, laugh like a
kid, order in my silent chaos, creating havoc, raising hell,
just laying there, making it last, no one can take this from
me, I had enough, I just wanna stay.
