"The road to hell is paved with good intentions", my granny
always said. She was Karma, my mum was Karma, and now it's
my turn. I always try my best to be nice and kind but some
people just take it the wrong way.

Take, for instance, Ingrid. She is just house-cleaner, who
stays around the city in... let's call it not-100%-legal
status. She came here with all documentation and just
outstayed her welcome. She's offering house cleaning at
ridiculously low cost of 7$ an hour and never broke a single
vase. So I decided to use my super powers -- granted from my
maternal side, my dad was just a freeloader -- and placed a
pristine, blank legal passport on the coffee table.

Ingrid did not hesitate and took it, as her brother in law
was quite good with these things and promised to help if he
could. I was sure now she'll be sorted, but what do you
know: as she was about to leave the apartment the landlady
arrived. Yes, they quarreled a bit; and Yes, Ingrid's poor
English did not help. However the biggest problem was the
neighbor who thought something is going on, and called the
police. The rest, as my grandpa used to say, is history:
Ingrid is behind bars for passport theft.

I always do my best to help those that need help, I do. It's
not my fault they end up screwing their life; it's not fair
of Ingrid's landlady to shout, "Karma is a bitch, bitch!"

Marcus the plumber is another example. He works so hard to
feed his wife and three kids (all of them hungry teenagers,
it's expensive!). He's such a dedicated man.

He deserved some help, so I made sure he'll always appear
first in Google Search for plumbers -- it's a tough industry
and very hard to get a job. But poor Marcus over-worked
himself, rather than distributing the even workload; now he
complains he can't rest and worst than that, he sprained his
ankle falling off ladder. In short, he's in the hospital for
3-5 weeks and now no-one can feed those three hungry teens
and wife.

He got this morning a visit from Bob, his biggest
competitor, who believes Marcus bought his way to the top of
Google. Bob is not a bad guy, he never beats his wife and
was never caught cheating on her; so why did he shout at
Marcus "Karma is a bitch, dawg"?

I think I'll retire. Maybe I don't get this Karma job. Too
bad I need to have a daughter first, to inherit my role.

Can someone introduce to me an honest, hard-working fella?
He doesn't need to be the best guy out there. Just someone
with a good Karma. |
