your moonlit hair
touches the cold night air
I taste it, it has a rich flavor
I eat another star cookie and cry.
I was surprised when the heat slithered and touched my hand.
It did not happen the other time. It was a warm dark night,
quite nice, I suppose. But I stayed home. I was sad. And
angry, about my unreasonable sadness. I was empty. Just like
the sky. Dark and empty, every single star was hiding.
Except those on my cookies.
You came to me, and the sky was bright
The moon behind you was big and warm
The cold around you could freeze my heart
It did so once, and it will once more.
As you walk towards me, step by step, I can feel the
coldness begin to take place. Soon it will take me over.
Soon I'll be gone. Froze, yours forever. Never free again,
never on my own.
I wanted to be yours. I did not care. But the heat
slithered, and touched my hand. Suddenly the moon grew
bigger, shiny and bright. Your hair went darker, blowing in
the night. All around you the air went wild, and I couldn't
stop looking, couldn't tear my eyes. Couldn't tear my eyes
from you, from your moonlit hair. From the sparkles in your
skin, from the flaming air. Couldn't tear my eyes from the
sudden burn, couldn't move a muscle, and then you were
gone.
The shrinking moon winks at me and smiles
The night is dark and warm again
I taste it, it has a rich flavor
I eat another star cookie and cry. |
