That might not be the longest day, but it is definitely the
slowest day. however, people do fast.
Our country is the only country where you can hear people in
the street say to one another: "good signature" or "final
good signature".
That's the only day to make some real money, if you repair
bicycle or if you rent movies to people for your living.
This is the only day in which people who usually wait for
the opening of a grocery store to eat something, wait for
the "closing" (NE'ILA) so they can put something in their
mouths.
That's the only day which gathers so many sinners in one
place, and it's not a prison.
That's the only day in which you can drive in a red traffic
light, and not affraid of getting a ticket.
That's the only day in which all Israelies go out, even if
all the stores are closed and there's nothing else to do but
walk or talk.
That's the only day in which you know your breath stinks in
the morning, but you do nothing about it.
That's the only day in which you prefer to stay in bed, even
if you're not sick at all.
That's the only day in which you can hear people who never
read a single book in their lives sing "God terrible plot"
(EL NORA ALILA).

That's Yom Kipur.
