He couldn't believe this was happening, let alone to him,
it's not like he was afraid of death, after all, he was a
smart man, he knew that sooner or later he will die, but he
always thought it will be later.
He was in his late twenties, healthy, successful, rich,
good-looking and more important than all those things,
happy.
He had a great well-paying job, a nice house in the suburbs,
a nice car, a great girlfriend that he loved and knew that
loved him back, he had it all.
He was lucky, until today that is, because today, there was
an earthquake, not really a big deal, they happen all the
time in L.A.,and after a while here, you get used to it.
But this quake was different, stronger; it was really
strong, buildings fell down, including the office building
he worked at, and he was now trapped under tons and tons of
rubble, he had just a little space to move a bit, and
breathe, he wasn't hurt bad, but he knew that there was no
chance in hell no one could find him and rescue him, he
worked on the 10th floor of a 75 storied building, so there
had to be 65 floors worth of rubble on top of him, by there
time they get to him he would have surely died. He was
facing certain death.
He started reflecting about his life, he had a good life,
almost no regrets, he thought of his friends and family, but
mostly he thought about his girlfriend, and how he would
never see her again, he wanted to tell her he loved her just
one more time.
Everything started fading away... then he woke up in bed,
peaceful, he could remember the song that said that the best
dreams are the ones you die at, but what was the name of the
song again? Oh well, he'll check that out when he returns
from work.
He parked his car in the parking lot just across from his
work, he took a long look at the tall building, then he
thought, "it was just a dream", and started crossing the
street.
He was almost to the other side when a bus hit him and
killed him. |
