Eli woke up 2 hours after her almost-death experience. She
was lying down at what she thought to be the nurse's room.
It was her first time in there. She never needed any medical
attention in school. Come to think of it, she never needed
any medical attention at all. "Weird" she thought to herself
and tried to get up of the rock-hard wooden board the school
management insisted on calling bed. She stood on her feet
for two seconds and a wave of cool shivers in her spine
forced her down again.
Cold.
The word passed through her brain several times until she
came to the conclusion that the best thing to do now will be
to cover her body with the coat that was waiting just for
her on the back of the a chair near by.
She set down on the bad and tried to remember what have
happened to her in the last three hours. There were some
word and sights coming and going through her brain. The main
two were 'cold' and 'Dev'.
At the next couple of minuets a lot of unimportant actions
took place around her. The spider on the wall went down to
the floor, the nurse came in with a cup of hot tea, the
nurse came out and Eli drank the tea. Dev and cold were
still in her brain. For some weird reason she thought that
there should be some sort of a connection between the two of
them but couldn't figure out what.
When she finished the tea, and started to get bored of the
spider that surpassingly went back to the wall, Dev went
in.
The handsome guy sat down on the chair and stared at the
stunned girl. After some staring, a little more staring and
a blink or two he finally said something.
"You look exactly the same". That wasn't really what Eli
wanted to hear.
"Emm... comparing to three hours ago?"
"No" said Dev with a smile, "comparing to your usual self."
"Ok," Eli said with a week smile, the one that she saves
especially for the really weird people.
"You look the same" Dev repeated his statement and sank into
sweet nostalgia. "Same face, same body, same smile" but than
he looked in her eyes and froze. "The stars in your eyes are
not sparkling though."
Now the girl was totally stunned. Stars? What's he talking
about?
"What are you talking about?"
"About your real self. I know something you don't,
remember?"
"Ok" Eli started to think about the issue logically, "when
did my eyes had sparkling stars in them?"
"In your dream." Dev was sure that it's obvious.
"You know what was in my dream, not what I looked like" Eli
determined.
"That's what you think," he said with a naughty bright light
in his eyes.
"Can you please tell me what's going on?" she asked with
some kind of despair.
"I can't" He said and looked at the spider, which was on the
ceiling now. Another quick glance at Eli and he was out.
Eli looked at her watch, 12:00 p.m. 'What a great hour' she
thought to herself and got off the bed still wearing the
coat. She had math class now. Her math class was on the
second floor. She was on the first floor. She decided to go
from the first floor to the second in order to get to her
math class.
The moment she walked in the door she got a shower of stares
from the whole class. She smiled weakly and waved to Alex.
Alex waved back and Eli came to sit next to her.
"What's with the coat?" Alex asked a little amused
"I'm cold" Eli apologized.
"So what happened to you girl?"
"I don't really know I -" Eli started to answer but the
teacher stopped her and took her attention from Alex to the
board. Her attention moved from the board to another point
of interest very quickly though. A new boy came into the
room, walked to the teacher and gave her a note. While she
looked at the note, he searched the class.
"Well Gabriel, you can go sit over there next to Joe" the
teacher said after she put the note in her book. But the
young boy went to the other side of the class, straight to
Eli.
"You are Elizabeth, are you not?" He asked our heroin with a
very serious voice. Eli, although of her numerous encounters
with weirdoes today, was still shocked. She just moved her
head up and down with eyes wide open.
"I have some research to do on you dear child," the weird
boy continued "will you be kind enough to tell me what was
your latest sin?"
"Excuse me?!" The teacher with her red face and her strident
voice screamed at the little cheeky redheaded kid.
"Oh you must be what they call teacher." The boy left Eli
and went to the front to talk to the teacher. "It is indeed
very nice to meat you lady?"
He asked for her name. "Miss Camble" she said and still
didn't know what she just got into her usually normal
class.
"Lady Miss Camble it is an honor to meat you. I have been
thinking for years, and I came to the conclusion that you
have the most important occupation for children's sake
everywhere. I am a big fan of earth's education people." He
took the woman's hand and kissed it softly.
"I haven't introduced myself yet." He said as if he
determines a fact. He thought for a second and went on.
"I am Gabriel. My Hmm... friends in your language, call me
Gabe."
"If you please sit in your chair and be quiet mister
Gabriel" Miss Camble tried her best to get the class back to
the productive lesson on Trigonometry of the space.
"Do you know what a treasure you have in your class Lady
Miss Camble?" he asked in
and-now-for-something-completely-different kind of way. He
pointed at Eli for everybody's (including her) surprise.
All of the eyes, which were aimed at Eli seconds before,
were now directed to the door.
Gabriel paused his unstoppable talking and stared at the
door.
"And now my fair lady, Elizabeth, I have to go" he said,
bowed, and went out of the classroom while passing the
figure at the entrance that eyed him suspiciously.
