/ Trespassers

Chapter 1
I shut my eyes immediately to shield myself from the
blinding, tormenting light. The noise was unbearable, like a
beats shouting throughout the galaxy. Then, all at once, it
stopped, and nothing was left but the absolute darkness,
caused by the enormous object that was hovering above me.
The beast had cooled down.
I tried to open my eyes, still afraid that the intimidating
flash would come back. Through my eyelashes I could see a
giant metal construction above me. I never thought that this
kind of thing would happen to me. I had seen it at least a
million times on television or in the newspapers, but I
never thought that these aliens, these creatures, would come
to me. Even more - I was afraid of that day.
Suddenly the spaceship began roaring, its engines piercing
through my ears. The saucer started going up, moving away
like a scared animal. I thought that they were finally
leaving, but I was only half right. All of a sudden I was
surrounded by a bright light. I started rising up to the
air. As I went closer and closer to the spaceship, I
realized that they were leaving like I thought they would,
but they were taking me along with them. The only question I
could think of was: why?

Chapter 2
Millions of thoughts were running through my head. Who were
these creatures? Where were they taking me? Why me? We
started drifting away from my home, then from my homeland,
from earth, until our entire globe was a tiny dot, stuck
helplessly in the endless void.
For some odd reason they left me there, hanging out in space
only held by that bright beam. I couldn't understand why
they did that. Maybe they wanted to show me how small our
planet is - despite the face that it is that big. That was a
very scary thought. To realize that any time they wanted
they could just "float" to our planet - these highly
intelligent creatures. The funny thing about it was that
they hadn't come until now... but why?
Suddenly I felt myself drawn to the saucer again, faster and
faster. I tried to cling to the side of the metal beast,
terrified of things still to come.

Chapter 3
I tried, as hard as I could, to hang on, almost wishing to
fall, just so I wouldn't be taken inside. But, as hard as I
tried, they were stronger. Eventually I stopped resisting,
and came inside.
The structure was amazing. Huge shining bright bars, rising
to the ceiling like giant hands reaching out, much like me.
The floor was smooth and transparent, and I could see space
outside. It made me feel more isolated than before. It was
as if I was quarantined - no one gets in - and no one gets
out.
I just stood there, admiring the huge empty space I was
standing in. There was absolute silence. I could only hear
my heart beat pounding inside my chest, faster and faster.
While I was standing there, I didn't quite know what to do,
what to say. I was frightened and fascinated at the same
time. Should I speak?
"Hello?" I said quietly. "Is anyone there?"
No answer, just quiet, nothing to hear. I was afraid even to
blink. Absolute silence, so scary that I would have
preferred having those creatures here with me, than being so
alone. It was even worse.
Then I realized that my wish had come true. A strange shadow
appeared in one of the gateways, and started to come
closer.
"Hello?"

Chapter 4
"Hello?" I said again, but he was just standing there, not
moving. Stop staring at me, I thought. Only thought. Didn't
say. Too afraid, I guess. Afraid to say anything, afraid of
the way he would react.
He looked awkward, yet he seemed harmless. I could see by
only looking at the silhouette his shadow made, long thin
hands dangling from his body, and a long neck, longer than
usual, which made him look freakier than I could imagine. I
couldn't quite see the color of his eyes, but that wasn't
the most frightening part of his eyes. It was they way they
looked at me. He seemed so skinny, so small, but still - I
felt much smaller.
We just stood there, not talking, not moving.
When he finally moved, it wasn't towards me, but away. He
started fading into the darkness, leaving me standing there.
I couldn't even close my mouth. And once again I was alone,
lonely. Don't leave me here! I shouted from inside, but
nothing came out. I waited impatiently for him to come back,
but I waited for nothing.
Maybe he could explain what was about to happen, I thought.
After all, I was pretty terrified, cooped up in there.
As the minutes went by I was getting more and more jittery.
It seemed pointless to cry out for him to come back once
again, because he was obviously ignoring. I couldn't
understand why they wanted me to stay, if they were not even
trying to communicate with me.
I was thinking along these lines when all of a sudden I
heard a horrible squeaking sound coming from the ceiling,
getting closer and closer to me.
A shiver came up through my spine, as if warning me,
alerting me.

Chapter 5
The sound of the metal machine was awful, and the look of it
was even worse. Horrible noise, like a giant truck, trying
to avoid crashing into another. It came closer and closer to
me, and I wanted to move out of the way, but couldn't. I
just couldn't. I froze on the spot, my teeth almost breaking
from non-stop chattering.
I had a feeling that reasoning with them wouldn't do me any
good, and shouting obviously wasn't helpful. This is
impossible, I thought. I'll probably wake up in a second.
But as hard as I pinched myself, it didn't work.
As it came closer, I could see the shape of it. It looked
like a huge metal black recliner, trying to get a hold of
me. I felt a strange hand grabbing my shoulder, and before I
could turn around and see whom my stalker was - I was
strapped to the intimidating chair, and couldn't move. A
bright light was pointing at me again, and I had a very good
idea of what was going to happen.

Just like all those movies on alien invasion, I thought.
Would they do the things to me that I heard they did to
other people? It couldn't be. They wouldn't.
Meanwhile, voices were talking behind me in a language I
couldn't comprehend, until they stood in front of me. That's
when I first saw their faces.
They didn't look at all as I thought they would. They had
round faces, with tiny eyes, observing me. Their lips were
very small too, and there was neither hair nor ears. They
were skinny and slim, just like the one I saw before, in the
gateway. But still - they didn't move, and didn't talk.
One of them took a metal stick, and started touching me in
the hands, legs and head, trying to see if something would
happen. All the others stood there behind him, like interns
watching an operation made by a famous surgeon.
But then he fetched a sharp syringe from his table. The
fluid dripped from its pointy edge.

Chapter 6
I screamed as hard as I could, but he ignored my shouting. I
used all my strength to try and break free from the
death-chair, but I couldn't. Nevertheless, I didn't give up,
and continued to resist. He looked at me funny, sad, as if
he was feeling sorry for me. But would it make him stop?
Would it stop him from examining me with his tools?
He looked at me, just looked, for a minute or so, and then
put his syringe down with a despairing sigh. It worked! I
thought. Or was it their plan all along? Can they really
mean no harm? Can their soul be truly pure of mean, hurting
thoughts? At first I thought they were after my blood, but
were they?
With a push of a button near his hand, all the straps that
were on my hands and legs were loosened, and I was able to
get up. For some strange reason, I didn't try to run away at
all.
I sat up, and for the first time I was observing him, not
the other way around. No, I can't ask him any questions, he
wouldn't understand my language. But it was my only option.
"What do you want from me? Tell me," I said quietly and
very, very slowly. I felt so stupid... he would never
understand me talking like that. You want to communicate,
talk normal!
He stalled, looked at me, probably reflecting on what I
said, and with a fast spin he turned away, with his
"interns" tagging along.
The engine of the giant saucer stopped, and there was a
great silence for a couple of seconds, then a sharp sudden
fall, like an air-bag that pushes you out of your seat when
you're on an airplane. Only this air-bag was bigger. Much
bigger. It was obvious that this was no air-bag. We were
descending towards somewhere - and we were descending
towards it fast.

Chapter 7
"What's going on?" I tore my lunges out, screaming as loud
as I could, but they wouldn't come. "Please, I can be a
friend!" still nothing. Silence. Where were we going? All
these presumptions came up in my mind. We might have been
going to their home-planet, or maybe to a strange other
planet, unknown to them. Or maybe - we were going to crash.

The fall was probably a few seconds long, but it felt like
hours. I was so anxious to see this place we were going to,
yet I was frightened at the same time.
This wave of heat suddenly passed through the spaceship.
After that we kept flying for a minute, then stopped all at
once.
"Thank you for flying Alien Airways," I giggled. First time
in this entire trip that there wasn't a scared expression on
my face. Then, without warning, someone grabbed me from
behind and strapped a thick black fabric to my eyes, and
darkness fell on me. Even tough I had the blindfold on, I
could see that a bright light was surrounding me again. This
time I was going down, but where was I?
Finally, when my feet met the ground, it felt soft, puffy,
like grass. I tried walking, but they wouldn't let me. They
held me there, standing. Then one of them took off my
blindfold, and I could see where I was. The alien stood
right in front of me, and I looked around, trying to
recognize the place. I was standing on grass as I thought,
and as I turned my head, I saw a house, a white house with a
red roof, green drapes and a wooden brown door.
"Hey, this is my house!"

Chapter 8
I looked at them amazed, stunned, shocked.
"You brought me here?! I thought you were going to kidnap
me!" I shouted at him. He looked surprised. I guess it was
the first time I was shouting at him, and not to him. He
looked kind of sad. There was sorrow in his eyes. And then,
for the first time, I looked at him not just as a creature,
but also as a being. Alien, maybe, but a being.
He turned back slowly, and drifted away, to the spot where
we came down. I watched him go up into the saucer, and then
- he waved goodbye! I couldn't believe it!
I stood there, frozen on the spot, looking at the stars,
thinking. Who knows how many worlds and races there are in
the universe? Probably millions upon millions.
I stood there, staring at the sky, reflecting with my
thoughts, as suddenly my wife drove into the garage. I
didn't notice her at first.
"Hi honey, I'm back from the beauty salon. You know, I
thought I heard a noise coming from this direction. What was
it?"
"Nothing," I answered, "just a friend."
