And here comes the morning again. Elizabeth, more known by
the name of Eli, woke up and looked at the mosquitoes on her
bedroom's ceiling. 'Here comes another boring Sunday' she
thought to herself. As always, she made sure the voices in
her head were silent before she got out of her bed. Don't
you get the wrong idea, she wasn't crazy or anything. She
was just an over-bored girl that thought that the little
idea of having any fun, or doing anything crazy, was
idiotic, and totally undoable.
As she was standing in front of the mirror and brushing her
teeth one of the little voices decided he wants some
attention. Needless to say it was the naughtiest voice of
them all. It made Eli believe that for her birthday, which
comes in two weeks, she just has to have a party.
The little voice didn't live her alone even in breakfast.
She looked at her mother that was eating her toast with no
special expression while she read her paper.
"Mom I want to have a birthday party," she said in such a
decisive voice that even her mother (that usually knew every
move the girl made) froze for a second.
"You want what?" the woman asked in a low but hard voice
"A party?" Eli half said half asked.
Elizabeth's mother, Hilary, never had any problems with
parties before. That was for the plain reason that Eli never
wanted to have any parties. Well it's not that she didn't
want to, it's just that her life was so boring she learned
to kill every sense of adventure in her. She thought nothing
could make her life interesting so she just gave up all
hope.
She had a little hope in her heart until one year ago, when
she moved to New York City. But after two months she decided
that even the big apple couldn't make her life fun. So now
she have no hope. Poor girl.
Her mother was staring at her daughter, just to make sure
it's not her twin brother talking. After a minute or so she
finally said "You can not have a party in my house"
"Why?" Eli asked and felt her teenage crisis streaming in
her veins for the first time in her life.
"Because we are not having parties in here. If you want you
can go with some friends to the Pizza place."
"You never give me anything!" Eli Said in a tough tone and
stared into her mother's eyes. She felt something warming up
inside her head. After couple of seconds her mother started
to scream. As mad as she was, Eli couldn't keep her heart
cool and went to her mother's side.
"What's wrong mom?" she asked, afraid the dear lady that
brought her to the world had finally lost it.
"I have the worst headache I have ever had" her mother said
and went to take some pills... Well, a lot of them...
The statement of Eli that her parents never give her
anything was indeed half-true. They never did give her
anything for the simple reason that she never asked. All she
did was dream about all the nice things people with
interesting lives have. But because of the fact that hers
were so boring, she never asked for anything.
After her mother went to sleep because of her unbearable
migraine, Eli went to her room to think about how to get a
party. Of course that you, the intelligent reader, know
without any doubt that Eli was the one to cause her mother
the pain in her anger. But at the time our dear Eli didn't
know that. She thought she'd have boring life 'till she
dies.
"Hi girl" the voice of George. Eli's happy twin brother
echoed through Eli's room. "What's up?" asked the only
person in the world (except for her on-line friend) that Eli
could talk to.
"George my dear brother" Eli started and looked at him with
puppy eyes. "I want to have a birthday party and mom won't
let me."
"You what?!" the handsome boy asked his sister.
"I want to have a party. Why cant people just accept it?!"
"Well" the tall blond boy started "you're not really the
partying type..."
"I know" Eli said, "all I wanted was a party to my sweet
sixteen"
"Poor girl" George said and hugged his twin with loving
arms.
And there went another Sunday... after a whole day of trying
to convince her father to let her have a party she got
totally hopeless (even more that what she was before). She
went to sleep. And to (what she thought to be) another
boring day.
"I have such a boring life" she whispered to herself and
fell asleep. Oh how wrong she was... |
