I
When I turned five my parents gave me
A big red fire truck,
Some action figures, and a doll that was suppose to bring me
luck
When I turned ten my parents gave me
Roller-Blades to skate,
A Compact Disk and CD's that some of which I hate
When I turned fifteen my friends gave me
A picture on the wall,
A cell phone holder and a book
That I didn't know at all
But the most original gift I ever got
This I have to say,
Was when you decided to leave me
On my 21st birthday
II
When I first went to school my parents gave me
A brand new pair of shoes,
A school bag, some notebooks
And a pen I never used
When I graduated my parents gave me
A 21" TV,
A VCR, and old cassetes
Which I hardly got to see
When I enlisted my friends gave me
A compass and a knife,
A flashlight and a key holder
That I did fine without all my life
But the most original gift I ever got
This I have to say,
Was when you decided to leave me
On my 21st birthday

You didn't even pay
And didn't get a discount
But you know what they say
It's the thought that really counts |
