Come to me slender and beautiful. Dressed in white, your
golden hair spread over your shoulders. Standing still in
the eye of the storm; smiling with awe at the world around
you. Raise your hand to me, raise it and lead me to follow.
Let a smile be seen in your eyes of cold blue steel mixed
with the firey glow of the flames you are leaving. Come
closer, away from the fires, away from the chaos. Come and
tell, so it will never be forgotten. Reach out and tell your
story of pain and suffering. But come to me nonetheless, not
running away but as a victor. As a hero rising from mayhem;
pacing slowly on the one road still free for passage. Come
to me, with a warning to the future, with a lesson learnt on
your skin to save others. Come and stay a while, bear my cry
and get my comfort, before stability subsides. Stay and
embrace, for the short time left. And then, when it is all
over do not forget. Do not disappear from sight while I go
to the darkness you just returned to me from. |
