The night's been whispering bad dreams
The moon's lain dead, or so it seemed
Sounding like whispers attempting to yell
Spoke the Preacher and the Infidel
"I do believe" the Preacher spoke
"You'll look quite good as ashes and smoke
Betrayers of Christ all go to hell!"
"Not me" said the Infidel
"Think of the sky, north, west, south, east
Imagine the water, the trees, the beast!
That is where divinity shall dwell!"
"Nature" said the Infidel
"What of the prophets? Surely you've heard,
God led them, they led the herd.
How did they know to hear him so well?"
"Psychosis" said the Infidel
"Take a mirror, my blind folded friend
I'll try to sweeten your bitter end
How come you walk and your tail fell?"
"Evolution" said the Infidel
"Why don't you try to concentrate
Not that I don't commiserate
Man and beast, we coexist, can't you tell?"
"Darwin" said the infidel
"Faith is a virtue, arrogant one
There was never a war our Lord hasn't won
To live and see the triumph we shall!"
"Never" said the Infidel
"Alright, I've had it, suppose it's all a fraud
There never were prophets, miracles and God
Why are you here with me in hell?"
"I'm God" cried the Infidel |
