-"Grema, why is your forehead so wrinkled?"
-"That's because I'm very old my dear"
-"and why are your hands shaking?"
-"because sometimes old people's hands shake"
-"oh, and why do you always wear that old red riding hood,
it's so worn out and it doesn't even fit your size"
-"well that's a very long story my beautiful granddaughter.
Would you like to hear it dear?"
-"oh yes Grema, please do tell"
-"Once upon a time there was a little girl that adored the
forest. She loved the colorful flowers and the lullabies
they used to sing .That girl had a red riding hood, just
like the one I have, and she never took it off. That was the
reason why everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood. She
used to go and smell the flowers every time she had a chance
to do so. It was like a drug for her, it made her feel as if
she was flying on thin air. She was friends with all of the
forest's animals, but she never had real friends-human
friends. Every time she told her mother she was going to
play with a friend, she was really going to play with the
animals and plants in the forest. One day, her mother asked
Little Red Riding Hood to deliver a basket to her sick
Grandmother. Little Red Riding Hood was thrilled; she knew
that the only way to get to her Grandmother's house was
walking all the way throughout the forest.
Her mother warned the little girl of the forest's wicked
wolf, but Little Red Riding Hood was not worried, she was
playing "chase" with that same wolf almost every Sunday, and
she didn't find him that wicked at all. He was rather
amusing, so big and clumsy, he used to trip and fall while
chasing after her, and one time he even bumped into a tree,
she found that incident hilarious. Anyhow, she took the
basket and off she went into the forest and into the day
that'll change her life completely. You see dear, Little Red
Riding Hood did bump into the big bad wolf, and when she
did, she made a deal with him- one that will cost her for
the rest of her life. She told him she ought to get to her
grandmother's house in time, but she can not be in the
forest without stopping to smell the beautiful flowers and
spending time with all of her friends. The big bad wolf
agreed to help the little girl, he was supposed to go to the
grandmother's home and entertain her until Little Red Riding
Hood arrives, so that the old lady wouldn't notice the time.
However, when the wolf arrived at the grandmother's house,
the old lady was so frightened of him that she started
throwing things, and eventually she ran out of her own home
screaming. The poor wolf was insulted by her reaction, but
he knew that his best friend is soon to arrive. He wanted so
much to play "chase" with her again, so he decided to
surprise her, he got into her grandmother's bed and waited
for her. Half an hour had passed before Little Red Riding
Hood's steps resounded through the bushes. Dry leaves often
make loud noise when being stepped on. The wolf was thrilled
to her arrival; he was covering his face excitedly and his
hairy palms were sweating. When the door opened he started
to breathe heavily that Little Red Riding Hood immediately
recognized his groaning: after all, he was her best friend,
and it is not that difficult to distinguish a woman from a
wolf, now is it. She almost started laughing at the clumsy
wolf that was trying to fool her, but she decided to play
along with his act. As she got closer to the bed, the wolf
cried out to her, softening his voice as much as he could
-"Put the basket upon the stool, and give me a big hug"
Little Red Riding Hood did as he said while quietly
giggling.
-"Grandmother, what big arms you have!"
She said with a cynical tone in her voice.
-"All the better to hug you with, my dear."
Answered the wolf
-"Grandmother, what big legs you have!"
Asked the girl, trying to let the wolf know that she knows
it is him in her grandmother's bed. However the brainless
creature was still certain that she was confusing him with
her grandmother.
-"All the better to run with, my child."
He answered with excitement, thinking he would get to play
"chase" with her soon.
"Grandmother, what big ears you have!"
"All the better to hear with, my child."
"Grandmother, what big eyes you have!"
"All the better to see with, my child."
"Grandmother, what big teeth you have got!"
"All the better to eat you up with."
And, saying these words, this wicked wolf revealed himself:
he pooled off the covers, stood upon the bed and made a
scary noise. It was somewhat like the noise that people make
when they holler "Boo" only it was a wolfish kind of "Boo"
you see? It appeared as a scary roar, but the only thing
that frightened Little Red Ridding Hood was the hunter's
shot gun bursting. You see dear, when the poor wolf roared
at Little Red Riding Hood, her grandmother and the forest's
hunter burst in, and when they saw the wolf in that
intimating position, they thought he was about to devour the
girl. Little Red Riding Hood's poor friend fell off the bed
bleeding. The poor clumsy animal only wanted to play "chase"
and the girl was the only one who knew the truth. Her
grandmother hugged the shocked girl with relief and said
"Thank god we got here on time", and the truth was never
spoken. The girl, she couldn't explain, she didn't want to
explain, because she knew no one would understand. However,
she also knew that the truth will be taught one day to a
beautiful little girl, and that girl would also wear the old
red riding hood, just like her grandmother did.
I'm going to meet my dear old friend soon, up there in the
sky-
Where I will wait for you
