Americans
27 November, Berkeley
Maybe there
Is something
In the air
Where
Nothing was raw
Everything
Seemed fair
Unless you watched
The faces
Of the lonely
People
Who were so busy
Busy With what ever
They were
busy With.
Maybe it was that
There was no smell
In the air
It didn?t dare
Nothing was dangerous
Except the passing
Of time
maybe death?s snare.
Americans think
They can put it off
Like writing a check.
They didn?t realize
You cant go shopping
For your life
God just wasn?t that high tech
And if you did
You would loose it
Completely out of sight
And search for it
on the internet
the whole goddamn night.
It was as if
They built a house
To shelter them
From themselves
And they only
Realized it after
They trashed the planet
And put bits of it with little tags
on shelves.
Was it the neon lights?
Cars, movies, nights?
Puritan religion?
Excess might?
Whatever you like
They all needed
A good shake
And some quiet time
Or smoke bombs
To make them realizes
What planet they
Were on,
At least
For a while. |
