I saw a small, brown moth,
Flying, spinning, dancing
Round a neon lamp.
He was excited by the light,
This made me wonder so -
"Why do you like this lamp so much?"
I asked
"Why do you circle it, as though,
You're tied together?"
But the small moth did answer not,
And only buzzed some more.
"Do you believe that you might find
There hope? Or happiness?
Companionship perhaps?
Or do you have it all, and yet -
Desire more?"
The moth continued flying round,
And bump his head,
And loose some of his wings,
But wouldn't stop!
"Will you forgive me,
Little moth,
If I presume, that you know not,
What's in there, in the light,
But for a reason that is far from
My own, simple human mind,
You hold on to the faith
That what is ever there,
Is surely better than what is in your grasp."
The moth made one more round
And then - chose the nearest sit,
The closest to the light,
That stayed so far - inside the lamp. |
