Once upon a time there was a sheep. The sheep baaed. Then he
saw a cat. He tried to meow but he couldn't, because he was
a sheep. So he baaed again. The cat yawned.
Then came an ostrich. The ostrich stood on one foot and
stared at the sheep and the cat. Then he buried his head in
the sand.
The sheep became hungry, and decided to move to greener
pastures. The cat yawned again, and his body disappeared by
strips, from the middle to the bottom and top, until just
the yawn remained. The yawn turned into a snarl, and
disappeared too.
The ostrich got tired of sticking his head in the sand, but
he could think of nothing better to do. He certainly wasn't
interested in feline apparitions. He continued to keep his
head buried in the sand.
At a quarter to ten a pigoen yawned. She stretched and
opened her eyes. "What a wonderful afternoon," she thought.
She flew up to the rooftop and dropped some droppings on the
cat's tail. The cat meowed softly and wriggled its tail
viciously.
The owl hooted loudly at the quiet forest. It was midnight.
But the sun was burning like a thousand suns.
And then the sun suddenly vanished beyond the horizon, and
they all finally went to sleep. Until the next bored author
decides to resurrect them from the land of vanished souls. |
