It was in the third millennium, at the beginning of spring
in the "Land of the Herbs." It was 11:30 at night and though
it was dark, the air was full of different aromas. "The Land
of the Herbs" was a name used mostly by young people to
describe this town, originating from the special herbs
growing in the area. Every time you smoked them, you get a
different sensation. Your eyes, for example, would turn into
the color of the sensation that you would feel. There were
many types of sensations, but the most common were 'gold,'
'liquid' and 'nature.' With 'gold' you felt more in tune
with the stars and the moon; with 'liquid' you felt more in
tune with the ocean or with lakes and ponds, and with
'nature,' which was considered one of the best sensations,
you could feel a strong energy in your surroundings, and
some say that with 'nature' you could feel the warmth of
god.

There is something else that is unique in this land. The men
can assume the shape of a bat and fly, and the appetite for
this power is probably what turned this story from a story
of true love to a fight for survival.
Background
It is now fifteen years earlier, the land of herbs has been
getting ready for a big occasion. The son of the king and
queen lucid is going to be given his wings today. It is a
joyous day for everyone that the kings' son will be winged.
In the land of herbs only those of male origin can be given
wings. You may ask why, the reason is that the sacred pond
of which the young are given wings has the power to give
wings only to the male. According to Sara the kings' oldest
adviser, who has great spiritual powers, it is in the way of
the forces of the universe that only those of male origin
can be given wings. Sara spoke that if a female were to be
dipped in the sacred pond; there would be an inbalance in
the spiritual climate that would bring great danger to the
people. Everyone accepted Sara's words for they Knew of her
great understanding in the ways of the spirits. As the towns
people gathered around the sacred pond to see the
traditional dipping for the wings, Lucids mother noticed a
little girl playing near the pond. Without hesitating she
ran over to the little girl to pull her from danger. As
lucid's mother grabbed the girls arms, she lost her balance
and fell into the pond with the girl. The kings' servants
ran over to pull them out. As they pulled them out the
little girl had a very strong glow coming from her body, but
as they pulled Lucid's mother out it was too late, for she
had taken her last breath and passed away. The little girl
was so scared from all this that when the kings servants
appraoched her, she started to run into the forest. The
servants ran after her and so did Lucid. The servants
seperated to look for her and lucid ran deeper into the
forest as well. All of a sudden lucid and the little girl
made eye contact, they stared at each other for a few
seconds when lucid shouted out "I found her", the little
girl turned around and dissapeared not ever being found.
Their was a heavy sadness in the land for some time. As for
Lucid he was dipped into the sacred pond a few days later,
with only the king and some close friends. It was a tragic
loss for lucid loosing his mother, but as the years went by
his wound also healed.
