You told me not to cry.
You told me to hold your hand.
You told me "hold it tight", just as it all began.
At first the fires started. The blaze was hot, too hot to
bare.
It burned it all down.
At first it was the children. Burned down to a crisp.
Nothing left.
You tightened your grip, around my neck. you told me to
close my eyes, so i wont breath the smoke, of death.
I held your hand
You held my neck
I cried for you, but you weren't there
You killed me with your eyes, but your hands on my neck
I begged
I begged.
Then started the shooting, the shot the walls, they shot the
women. They shot my heart, but it didn't keep them away.
They wanted more, they broke my door, now they took my legs
and hands.
You held me tight, what was left of me.
You held me high, so i could reach to the sky, so i
screamed.
now they took you away. they broke down the walls. the
shooting might have stoped but the flames still burn.
The roses are gone. my eyes are shut.
Peace might have come, but you were still gone.
You told me not to cry.
You told me to hold your hand.
You told me "hold it tight", just as it all began. |
