The warm joy of others seeps into my veins,
Battles the cold that my happiness wanes;
But that warm current comes and goes, never to stay,
Leaving me here, alone, afraid,
In the Dark.

Enclosed in my fortress of indifference, in-feeling,
Afraid to be hurt too deeply to be scarred,
Hard,
I now have to compensate myself for those years,
Struggling for each step in confronting those fears.

One day I hope to be able to peek
Out into the world, finding myself at the peak;
One day, I hope not too long from now,
One day I will fulfill my vow.
