Authors note
There you go again.
Sipping warm soda out of a tall greasy wine glass
Filled with ice cubes,
Desperately trying to make it cold.
And you're trying to act like someone you're not.
It's not working.
Only you think it is.
There you go again.
Thinking of lengthy outlandish words to use,
So people will think you're sharp.
And intellectual.
But when everyone is gone,
You'll cry to yourself
Because you know you're just plain dumb.
There you go again.
Sitting in the dark of your shadow
On the sunniest day of the year
When everyone else is outside.
You try to be happy-just like everyone.
And smile, and laugh-I'm normal.
Only you know the truth.
Here we go again.
Sitting and talking like we're friends.
And me acting like I know everything.
The ice has all melted,
The soda is still nauseatingly warm,
And the glass is greasy-it falls from my grasp and
shatters.
Life is never perfect,
The way you want it to be.
And no matter how much you think they're perfect,
They're so special-
They know they're not.
But when they say you are,
You can be sure-
You are. |
