In my youth I've been a soldier
In the desert with rifle on shoulder
Carrying my duty for country and friends
Standing vigilant to fight and defend
I could feel the danger
Smelling of rust and burning oil
Nobody told me I was brave
No one at all
In the world of capitalism
Where modern man set sail
I've ventured my ship
A fish among whales
I could feel the danger
Being crashed by the waves
Nobody told I was brave
It didn't make any sense
In the name of a woman's love
I left my home and family
With a backpack and guitar
10,000 miles to a land a far
I could feel the danger
All alone in a foreign land
Nobody told me I was brave
No one held my hand
When spring came, there I where
In a parking car, under stormy skies
I read poetry to the girl with the long black hair
And the shiny blue eyes
I felt no danger, I was
Open and safe like a one newly born
She told me I was brave
I don't understand this at all
