/ Fairy Tales

It was a magnificent sight, so wondrous and brilliant that
words can barely touch the tip of its beauty. Thousands of
little rays of light radiated brightly through the treetops
making the magical pond even more colorful than it already
was. A little gust of wind breezed through the trees and the
birds were squeaking as if a happy event was coming their
way and indeed it was a marvelous day... All the animals
gathered around the pond, not to drink but to watch, to
watch the miracle of creation. Silence covered the pond
area, even the wind stopped. Then a low, barely detectable
tremor gradually became more and more powerful; the calm
pond water began to ripple gently and then blinding beams of
light burst through the water. The animals around remained
totally calm, while a sight such as this would have set a
human running a long time ago. The beams centered at the
middle of the pond growing more and more powerful and
blinding. A low humming sound came from the center of
events. Suddenly, a mystical silence wrapped the area and
the beams of light shrank to a little round disc of light.
Hours passed since the great turmoil. The sun went to light
another part of the planet leaving the moon in charge of
things. It was a full, blue moon- you could see the craters-
see the man on the moon smiling back; such a surreal
picture, such beauty. Suddenly the disc of light began
shimmering, breaking the silence, and then out it came.
Poetry made real (tangible?), perfection on earth. The size
of it was merely 30 centimeters, but that's not important at
all- It was perfect. Looking in its eyes an innocence could
be seen that wouldn't be found even in a small child. The
ears were pointy and were a little oblique. But still the
innocence and beauty remained. It was a fairy, a legendary
creature known to us only from legends and fairytales. Could
one believe such beauty really exists?
She remained there, floating silently above the now calm
waters of the pond. Then, breaking the perfect silence, she
spread her translucent wings and let the moonlight penetrate
through them- making a colorful pattern upon the waters. She
then carried her innocent eyes to the skies and in a moment
she was gone, now flying high, high above the trees, the man
on the moon smiling at her and she, apparently, smiling
back. She flew above meadows and forests, swamps and rivers,
helping trees grow tall and strong, and animals survive the
cold night. She flew faster and faster fascinated by the
beauty of this world and what it has to offer, willing to
offer the world all she has.
It was now daylight and the clear air she loved so much
became foggy and dusty, the meadow she was flying above
transformed into stone with huge creatures similar to her
all around. "Humans" she said to herself. They were as
legendary to her as she was and is to them. She flew through
the great "Stone Meadow", curious and eager to explore this
newly discovered realm. "The providers of life" she thought.
A few minutes later she flew by a window, overhearing the
cry of a young human child. She rushed to the window and saw
a heartwarming picture: a mother holding her young, begging
him not to cry. She kept saying "Honey, please stop
crying... if you'll behave, you know you'll get a special
treat from? The good fairy!". The fairy was ecstatic to know
she and her kind were not forgotten. "But mom... THERE   IS
NO   GOOD   FAIRY" said the young one. At that moment the
little fairy's universe collapsed, or better said, she
collapsed. Hearing that phrase was like a stake being driven
through her heart, she began to feel weak, everything around
her went blank and in a couple of seconds she no longer
was...
"Oh sweetie you know that every time somebody says that a
fairy dies..."
"You're right mom. Can I eat some ice-cream?"
