Major breakdown, I said. Please send a tow truck.
Who knows how long, how much it takes to fix
An old, yet faithful, superpowered engine
That made its mind one night and called it quits.

This car is empty now. Its memorabilia
Of you and me are neatly stowed away.
Small things of no apparent value
Are set aside for use on better days.

And the mechanic would be helpful as he can be.
"Yes, sir, just leave it here and we will call
With estimate of cost and time. That motor
Is not so simple and is getting old."

It won't be cheap, yet that old car is worthy
Of some more years of life with me and you.
And while we fix its soul, we'll fix its body:
New bumper, tires, shocks are overdue.

Though for a while I'll drive a shiny rental
Till this one gets out of intensive care,
Old cars, old loves just make me sentimental
As I assume they always will be there. |
