Now I lay me down to sleep,
Another night I pray.
I ask the Lord my soul to keep,
So that I shall see another day.
But at the end of my nightly prayer,
I request again to meet
The man whose name I'll never know,
Who makes my dreams complete.
My head greets my pillow,
I close my eyes so gently
I calmly evanesce
My soul relaxes contently.
.
My mind slips into a familiar daze
I watch myself disappear
My entire body numbly dissolves
As I feel your presence near.
My breath has frozen suddenly
In the cold unliving air
In the meadow of my imagination
As the colors slowly flare
Your eyes defrost my existence,
The warmth returns to my skin
As you fill me with excitement
And music from within...
You take my hand and lead me,
Onto the hazed grass,
You wrap your arms around me
And we
dance...
In a melancholy tango,
Our silhouette's unite
As we slowly move together;
All throughout the night
And when the dance has ended
You bow gracefully and depart,
To thank me for another night
I've let you in my dreams take part.
You vanish once again
To be replaced by the morning sun,
The colors fade and melt at once
As if they were suddenly shunned.
I awaken slowly
My limbs come back to life
As I sigh and sadden at once
Thrown back into my daily strife.
My reality, my life.
And if I die before I wake
As this one night is near, it seems
I ask the Lord my soul to take,
And give to the unnamed man of my dreams.
