So the dogs went to sleep
An eventful day gone by.
Someone new arrived.
First they barked, and then they sniffed,
Confirmed with the master they did.

They were stroked,
And back they licked,
For the while it was all they needed.

Then the master said something to the friend,
And then came the strokings end.
They wanted more,
They didn't want it to happen.

But they knew the time has come,
For the stranger to go away,
Since it is what the master said.

The dogs went back to sleep.
And now all they can do is weep.
