Have you seen the fires sparkle beyond the broken wall?
Have you felt the cold wind blowing at your back?
Have you followed narrow trails deep into the forest?
Have you swept across the ocean in a midnight storm?
How can you say that you have travelled?
How can you claim that you have lived?
Have you looked into the heavens and felt their cold
embrace?
Have you travelled on the roads only the stars can trace?
Of all that you have ever seen, was there ever just a
glimpse,
of the magic, of the spirit, of the hidden, of the deep?
Was there ever gentle ringing of the bells you cannot see?
Was there ever dusty rustle of the leaves that grace no
tree?
Would you come there if invited? Would you follow were you
called?
Would you dare to pass the threshold that you never
understood?
Would you try to give an answer to the question that has
none?
Would you turn away from prison towards all that can be
done?
I have heard your silent mutters,
I have seen your secret hopes,
And I know you've heard those questions
And their echoes far behind.
Yet once again, I see you hesitation,
I see the doubts half-formed within you mind,
I feel the hands of fears reach out to find you,
reach out to keep you far behind.
And once again, I ask, I offer - Will you come with me?
Will you find within the courage to shut the eyes that
cannot see?
Far away the world awaits you - fires, storms, paths of the
wind,
Just beyond, beyond all reason, lie the realms that have no
end.
Will you come with me to follow
shifting footprints in the sand?
Will you come to trace the contours
of the shore that has no land?
Will you see the realms of sunlight
where no sun has ever set?
Will you try to count the twistings
of the flames that never bend?
Will you mind accept those whispers,
Will you not forget that I
am still here, and still awaiting,
that you'll dare and step inside? |
