I can't live
In pain, all the time.
Whether it takes cynicism,
Hatred, or even
More pain
To surpass this peak,
I am ready to pay it.
It is unfair to hurt myself.
It consumes me, and I need
To disappoint myself
To leave this confinement.

I live to learn,
To pass my knowledge,
To improve the heritage,
Which I require my successors
To further appreciate.
I live to make our planet
A better place,
To let my children grow
Without fear.
My knowledge
Is the insurance policy
Of my offspring.

But most of all,
I learn
Such that I stay alive
In the memories of my successors
Long after I pass away,
Thus satisfying my infinite yearning
For glory.
