FADE IN:

Int. HOTEL ROOM. DAY

Will Dryer ( 45 ) sits by the table. There is an expensive
looking suitcase by the table. He takes a packet of tissues
from his pocket and wipes his forehead. He hears noise from
outside the door. Gets up and opens the door. Looks out.

WILL
(shouts)
Hey you.

WOMAN'S VOICE (O.S.)
Me Sir ?

WILL
Yeah. You. Come here.

WOMAN'S VOICE (O.S.)
I"ll be right there sir.

Will leaves the door open and goes to the bathroom. He comes
back with a glass of water. Marcia Wagner ( 22 ) comes to
the door. She drags a cleaning cart with her. She's dressed
in blue robe with a name tag. She watches Will drink the
water. He puts the half-filled glass on the table.

MARCIA
You want something sir?

WILL
Yeah. I want you to stay with me.

MARCIA
You probably want someone else. I don't do this stuff.

WILL
What stuff?

MARCIA
Go to bed with men.

Will goes to her and she backs up a few steps. He looks at
her name tag.

WILL
Marcia Wagner.
(beat)
Believe me that sex is the last thing I want now. I want you
to sit down in this chair for

Will looks at his watch.

WILL (CONT'D)
15 minutes and do nothing.

MARCIA
We're not allowed to stay in the rooms.

WILL
I'll give you 200 bucks for 15 minutes. It's more than 10
bucks a minute. I'm not going to put a hand on you. I'll be
there on the bed.

MARCIA
You're sick? You want me to call the house doctor for you?

WILL
I'll be fine in a minute. Will you?

MARCIA
15 minutes?
(beat)
Let's see the money.

Will takes several notes from his pocket. Gives her two
notes. Marcia puts the money in her pocket. She sits on the
chair. Will goes to the bed and sits on it. He looks at
Marcia.

WILL
How old are you Marcia?

MARCIA
22

WILL
My Helen will turn 21 in two weeks.

MARCIA
Nice.

WILL
She paints. Ever since she was 12 her one wish was to go and
study for one year in Paris.

MARCIA
It takes a lot of money.

WILL
Yeah. My wife and me were aiming to take a loan and give her
the money on her birthday. Only my wife got hit by a car
before we got to the bank.

Will stops talking for a minute.

MARCIA
I'm sorry.

WILL
No. How can you ?  You never knew her.

There is a noise from outside the door. Marcia gets up and
looks out. She comes back and sits.

MARCIA
Thought it was my supervisor.
(beat)
I'll get fired if he catches me in here.

WILL
You probably don't make much.

MARCIA
Don't have many choices.

WILL
Are you that desparate ?

MARCIA
(laughs)
No. I am loaded and get my kicks from making beds and
cleaning stinking toilets.

Marcia puts her hand in her pocket and brings out a pack of
chewing gum. Will lies down on the bed. Marcia puts a
chewing gum in her mouth. She puts the wrapper on the table
and knocks the glass with water. The water drips on the
suitcase. She gets up and lifts the suitcase. It opens and
bundles of money notes roll out. Will sits.

WILL
What the hell ?

MARCIA
Sorry Mister. I'll put it all back.

Marcia bends down and starts collecting the bundles. Will
gets up and falls back on the bed. Marcia looks at him.

WILL
Leave it.

Marcia continues to put the bundles in the suitcase.

WILL (CONT'D)
(shouts)
I said leave it.

Marcia drops the bundle she has in her hand. She gets up and
goes out. Comes back with a rag. She wipes clean the table
and puts the rag on the table. Takes the glass and goes to
the bathroom. Will gets up and finishes putting the bundles
in the suitcase.  He closes it and takes it over to the bed.
He sits on the bed.  Marcia comes back.Marcia takes a note
from her pocket. She hands it to Will

MARCIA
Here. Take it.
(beat)
I guess I earned the other 100.

WILL
Why?

MARCIA
I don't mess around with thieves or robbers.

WILL
I'm not a robber. In 10 minutes I'll be a thief.

Marcia puts the note on the bed and walks to the door.

WILL (CONT'D)
Hey you.

Marcia walks out and takes the cart. Will gets up from the
bed and falls back. He tries to get something from his
pocket. Keys, coins and a round small metal box roll to the
floor. Will tries to reach it. Marcia comes to the door.

MARCIA
Came back for the rag.

Marcia takes the rag from the table.

WILL
Please Marcia.
(beat)
I need my pill. It's in that metal box.

Marcia sees the metal box on the floor. She picks it up.

MARCIA
This ?

WILL
Yeah. Please.

Marcia goes to the bathroom and comes back with a glass of
water. She open the box and takes out one pill. She gives
the glass and pill to Will. He swallows the pill and lies
back.

MARCIA
You want me to call the hotel's doctor?

WILL
No doctor. Please.

Marcia collects the 100 note from the bed and puts it in her
pocket.

MARCIA
You got another 10 minutes coming to you .

Marcia goes to the chair and sits.

WILL
The money. 100 grand. Someone'll be here in 10 minutes to
collect it.
(beat)
Horse racing. Went in too deep.

MARCIA
Leave me out of it.

WILL
You were out so why did you come back ?

MARCIA
Had to get back the rag.

WILL
Rag or money ?

Marcia does not answer.

WILL (CONT'D)
It's not mine. Never had this much in my whole fucking life.
Took it last night from my boss's safe. " Best Apartments ".
He always pays cash to his Maxican workers. They do not go
much for banks.
(laughs)
In 10 minutes I'll earn the title of " Will Dryer the thief
". My mom always wanted me to have a title.

MARCIA
You got it coming.
(she looks at her watch)
Your daughter will have her 21 birthday with you in jail.
Helen's your only child ?

WILL
Yeah.

MARCIA
Her tough luck to have you for a father.

Will reaches into his back pocket and brings out a wallet.

WILL
Here. You want to see her ?

Will takes out a photo.

MARCIA
No.

WILL
No?

MARCIA
Nothing personal. Have enough problems without meeting your
daughter.

WILL
It's just...

MARCIA
No. Thank you.

Will puts the photo backin the wallet. Marcia points to the
suitcase.

MARCIA (CONT'D)
Mind if I take a look?

WILL
No way. It stays closed.

MARCIA
Please let me see the money. I won't touch it.

WILL
It might be too much for you. You'll never get any closer to
100 grand in your life.

MARCIA
I won't make a move. Just want to enjoy the look of all of
them notes.

Will opens the suitcase. Marcia looks at the money

MARCIA (CONT'D)
How many are there?

WILL
Most of them are 50's so there are about 2000 of them.

MARCIA
Enough to fill a bath.

WILL
What?

MARCIA
My dad use to say that one day I'll have enough money to
bathe in it.

WILL
So you got a nut for a father.

MARCIA
It's just that all my life I shared bathrooms in halls.
(beat)
Sure would like to feel money all over me.

WILL
Seeing all this money made you crazy.

MARCIA
Please. No water. Just notes and me.

WILL
Like a real bath? Naked and all ?

MARCIA
Yeah. I'll take off my clothes in here and walk naked into
the bath. You bring the suitcase.  I'll have nowhere to hide
a note.

WILL
They'll be here in 8 minutes.

MARCIA
I'll make it quick. 5 minutes and I'm out of here.

WILL
I won't look

MARCIA
Only if you want to.
(beat)
I don't mind.

WILL
Wouldn't want you to think I am letting you bath in money
just to see you naked.

MARCIA
Sure.

WILL
Ok. You get in the bath and I'll bring the money.

MARCIA
Thanks Will.

Marcia goes to the corner of the room and takes off her
clothes. She drops them to the floor.  Will looks after
her.

WILL
Nuts.

Will closes the suitcase. He gets up and take the
suitcase. He stops by Marcia's clothes.  Picks them up, folds
them and puts them on the bed. He goes to the bathroom.

INT. BATHROOM. DAY

Marcia lays naked in the bath covered with money. She plays
with the notes. The empty suitcase on the floor. Will stands
looking.

WILL
Is it that good ?

MARCIA
Like a million.

WILL
You would've drowned in a million.

MARCIA
I wouldn't mind drowning.

WILL
What would be the first thing you would do if this money was
yours ?

MARCIA
Ask for a wake up service.  I don't go much for the " ifs "
in life.  What you see is what you have. Nothing more
nothing less.

WILL
You still young Marcia. You have many corners to turn and
every corner might hide a surprise.

MARCIA
I stoped counting corners years ago.
(beat)
Most of them were bad. You a dreamer Will?

WILL
Yeah. For Helen.

MARCIA
She won't have any more dreams if you go to jail leaving her
all alone.

WILL
She'll manage somehow until I get out.

MARCIA
Somehow is forever. She'll be 21 only once Will.  You owe her
the chance of being happy. Stick by her.

WILL
It's too late.

MARCIA
No. It's not. You can still make it.  I'm sure the cops'll
stay out of it if you call your boss now and tell him you
are taking it all back.

Will loooks at his watch.

WILL
You better get out now and let me put the notes in the
suitcase.
(beat)
Now you can tell your dad that you had a money bath.

MARCIA
Sure will.

Marcia gets out of the bath and goes out.She closes the door
behind her. Will bends down and starts to collect the money
and put it in the suitcase.

INT. BATHROOM. DAY

INT.  HOTEL ROOM.DAY

Marcia finishes dressing. She goes to the door and opens it.
The cart is still there. Marcia goes back to the bathroom
door.

MARCIA
Will. You finished in there?

Marcia waits.

MARCIA (CONT'D)
They'll be here any minute now.

Marcia opens the bathroom door and looks inside. Marcia
P.O.V. Will on the floor. The suitcase is beside him. Closed
. Marcia runs to him and bends down.

INT.  BATHROOM. DAY

MARCIA
Will. Will.

Will does not move. Marcia feels his pulse. She runs out and
gets back with a small mirror in her hand. She puts the
mirror against Will's mouth.

MARCIA (CONT'D)
I guess you ran out of corners Will.

Marcia gets up and looks at the suitcase. She picks it up
and walks out. She comes back, bends down and kisses Will on
the cheek. She goes to the outside door and then stops.  She
puts the suitcase on the floor and opens it. She takes out
several note.

MARCIA (CONT'D)
This should do it. Now let's find out where Will lives...
lived.

She goes back into the bathroom and comes back with Will's
wallet. She opens it and looks inside. She takes an envelope
and a pen from the drawer of the table. She writes on the
envelope.  Now she takes a notepad and writes.

MARCIA (CONT'D)
To Helen - For Paris with love. Dad.

She takes the money and note and stuffs them in the
envelope. She licks the envelope and seals it. She puts the
envelope in her pocket and picks up the suitcase.  She goes
out of the door.
