"How much for a smile?" I asked her.
"What kind of a smile?"
"A real one, a smile that comes from the heart".
"Oh, that's priceless, you can't buy that, you have to earn
it!"
"How do I earn it? Tell me please! I'll do anything!"
"Anything?" She asked, and I saw a spark of deep red in her
blue angel eyes.
"Well... there is one way, but I'm not sure you're up for
it..."
"Of course I am, tell me, what do I need to do?"
"Are you sure? There is no turning back!"
"I'm sure!"
She turned and took a bottle from the top shelf.
"You see this little bottle here?"
"What about it?"
"This is a bottle of love, once you have had a hold of it,
it
becomes part of you. It will contain all of your love and
most of your soul"
"But what does that have to do with my smile?"
"Patience... good things take time you know...
After I'll give you this bottle, you need to find the one"
"The one?"
"The one that can make you smile..."
"And where do I find this one?"
"You will... you need to give that one whats inside the
bottle, drop by drop, until the hole content of your
bottle belongs to him... but you have to be very very
carefull, because once the last drop is gone your heart and
soul will belong to the one, and he can do what ever he
wants with them, so you'll have to make sure that the one
is
someone you can trust, completely and unconditionlly, if
you make a mistake and choose a one that won't take good
care of your heart, your heart will remain forever in the
hands of someone that will hurt you again and again"
I took the bottle and held it close to my body.
"And the price for this bottle?" I asked.
She smiled, not a real smile...
"Oh nothing much, just some pain and misery, maybe a
depression or two..."
"I'll take it!"
After some time I thought I found the right person, I
started giving her what was inside my bottle without even
noticing, day by day, drop by drop.
With each drop I gave away my smiles became more real.
I had only a few drops left in my little bottle when I
started to feel the price of my smile.
It was unberable, I couldn't take the pain.
I realized I made a mistake, it can't be her, she would
kill
my heart, suck the love out of it and use it to wipe the
remaines of my soul.
I started taking it back, drop by drop, every drop I took
back felt like a flame was burning me alive. The burn in my
eyes was the worst, it made different kind of drops to come
out of me.
I hated those drops, those tears, and I locked them,
letting them drown my insides.
I went back to that smiles store, the woman looked at me
"I knew you werent up for it" she laughed.
"I should have listened to you..."
The tears started running down, I couldn't hold them
anymore,
They slided down my face as I cried, leaving the taste of
pain in my mouth.
So I sat there, in the dark corner of a smiles store, the
sound of her evil laugh surrounding me, holding myself
like a baby in his mothers womb, crying like the world have
come to an end, thinking of the one that could make me
smile, feeling her deep in my almost empty heart.
Then the little beautiful demon who sold me my smile gave
me her hand, in her hand their was a pill, I took it and
swallowed without thinking twice, I'm not sure what was in
that pill but the tears stopped and a smile started
streaching on my face,
At first a little smile, and then a big laugh, a joy that
came out of nowhere.
Then I suddenly knew how pointless it all was.
My feet took me home, I found my self on the roof of my
building, just standing there, thinking of my life, staring
down, from the edge, on the tip of my toes,
Then I took out the little bottle and poured out what was
inside of it, drop by drop, piece by piece of my shattered
heart, until their was nothing left, the bottle was empty,
as so was I.
My feet left the ground, I felt myself falling deeper and
deeper in to the black hole of my soul.
I smiled. A real smile.
In a second it will all end,
with a smile.
