The caves of Beit Guvrin, an inspirational place. The caves exist south
west to Jerusalem. The place is enchanting. The caves are huge, and make
you feel really small considering their grandeur and the fact they were
built thousands of years ago. They explained to me, that the caves are not
so strong as they seem, and have to be measured for cracks and instability.
In this art piece, I tried to capture the depth and size of the caves, its
colors and history. The light coming from above is the only connection you
have to the outside. The work was done using plaster, photographs, and oil
painting. The mixed materials, allowed me to create the depth, the
coloring, and the contact to reality.
