"In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
amen."
"Amen. Bless me father, for I have sinned. It has been ten
days since my last confession."
"Do you have any sins to confess, son?"
"Yes, father, I have."
"I am listening, my son."
"Father, I have... I have sinned... terribly."
"We all have our weak moments, son. Only the Almighty is
infallible."
"I know he is, I know he is. I couldn't resist it father,
there was nothing I could've said or done..."
"Why couldn't you resist, son? Was the temptation so great
that you couldn't help it? There are times the drive to do
wrong surpasses even the will to do the Lord's word. It's
human-"
"No father, you don't understand, I didn't want to do it,
but I had to... I hadn't any choice, I had to and now I'm
afraid I'll go to Hell..."
"What is it, son, what terrible sin have you commited, that
will do you such? Our lord is full of mercy, he loves his
children. You've come here to repent, haven't you?
Repentance is the first step to- "
"I have commited murder, father."
"Oh God..."
"I've shed blood that wasn't mine to take."
"Have mercy... But was it an animal that you've killed-"
"No, father, it wasn't animals."
"Dear God... That is a mortal sin, there is no absolution
for that... But why, son, why? Why have you commited such a
terrible sin?"
"I... I didn't want to, father, you must believe me. I
didn't want to, but the Lord ordered me to, and I hadn't any
choice. I couldn't disobey Him..."
"The Lord... ordered you to kill? But surely you are
mistaken, son, for He is against murder, He himself
commanded that there should be no bloodshed among his
flock."
"No father, I am not mistaken. I wish I were. Each minute,
each second that I am awake I pray that I am mistaken, that
I am wrong, that I am crazy, that the Devil has possessed
me, but it isn't so, father. The Lord has spoken to me, and
He's told me what I must do. He assured me that it is His
will, but my conscience keeps telling me it's wrong,
father."
"But it is the very conscience that God has planted in you,
to guide you in His way! How could He order you to do
something that would feel wrong, and is wrong by His own
rules, His own ways?"
"He works in mysterious ways, father. That's what I've been
telling myself to remain sane. I don't try to understand,
not anymore. The only time when it feels right is in the
very moment when I take a life. Then is the time when I feel
that I'm doing the Lord's will, then do I feel His support
and that I am only a vessel in His hands. Later, when I'm
alone, when I have time to reflect upon what I've done, what
I've been forced to do, then do I feel ashamed."
"Oh son, I fear for you. Often does the Lord test our faith,
and often do we fail. Perhaps you have been tested with one
of the most difficult tests, and that's seeing the ways of
God, seeing that you yourself are nothing but one of many,
many under Him-"
"Exactly, father. I see that. I know that. That's why I feel
bad-"
"But then, if you do understand, why can't you see that the
Lord does not need you to kill his children? If He sees fit
to, He can take a life by his mere will, He doesn't need you
to do it for Him."
"But father, you said so yourself, that we are nothing but
His own creations. We exist only by His will, and so isn't
it by His will that we die? And therefore that we kill?"
"No, son, as we are not Him. We are not perfect. We can err
and fail. He gave us his rules, his commandments and
guidance, but he also gave us the abillity to choose.
Sometimes, and possibly most of the times, we don't choose
very wisely. The remorse you feel is the knowledge that
you've strayed from His path."
"Then why has He ordered me, father, why? I heard Him
plainly, and not through my ears, but in my head, in my
heart, He filled me and I couldn't protest, couldn't do
anything! I was compeled to do His will!"
"There are other powers at hand, son. You could have fallen
into the hands of such. You should pray for an answer, my
son. Perhaps it isn't too late yet, perhaps your soul can
still be redeemed... I can't grant you absolution, and there
isn't such a penance that would compare to the punishment
that's awaiting you in the afterlife. You need to go to the
police, give yourself in. Maybe after that you can pray for
your soul..."
"The police? Don't you see? You are just like the others.
Nobody believes that it is possible for God to command one
to do His will anymore. Maybe it isn't me that is tested,
but you, all of you!"
"Which others? Wh- who do you mean?"
"You! The preachers, the priests! Those I have been
commanded to slaughter! I wouldn't expect a simple person to
believe me, they are far from God, but you? You should know
better. Yet all I hear is arguments! His very servants,
those that should be closest to Him, can't believe he exists
enough to speak to one of His people! It's no wonder that He
had me kill you!"

Click.

"Almighty God... No..."
"Yes, father. You too."
"You killed all those poor people... You're him..."
"No, father, I am just His servant."
"And you've come for me too."
"Yes, father."
"Oh Lord..."
"I have to, father, He has-"
"Wait! But you contradict yourself! You said that us, the
priests, are the closest to Him. If we are, why has He
chosen you? You are not a priest, are you? How could you be
close enough to Him to be selected to do his will? While
others spend their whole lives in his service..."
"Yes, yes, but the rotten apple can't heal itself, can it?"
"No, but God can! He has the power to heal, to change..."
"I am his healing tool, apparently."
"No, he doesn't need you to-"
"We are moving in circles, father. We've been through this
already."
"But son, you are mistaken-"
"No father, it's you who are mistaken. It's His will that
you should die. I'm sorry."
"Are you? Are you sorry?"
"Yes, I am, father. I don't understand his will, but neither
can I understand. I know that killing is wrong, but it is
His will, and it shall be done. You can't understand,
either. Maybe you should, and maybe you shall, but you
shouldn't be afraid-"
"I am not afraid for myself, son, I am afraid for you! For
your soul, that will surely go to Hell if you do commit
murder! You can still be saved, don't-"
"Oh, I'm afraid it's too late for that, father. I have taken
lives before in the name of God, and He shall be the only
one to judge my soul, just as He has judged yours. If you
are indeed his servant, you'll join him in Heaven. That's
what I hope for you, father."
"Son, please..."
"I'll pray for you, father."
"No!"

BANG.

"My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. You have
chosen for me to do wrong and fail to do good. I have kept
my faith and done as you willed, and yet I have sinned
against You, whom I should love above all things. I firmly
intend, with Your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and
to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Please don't make me do
it again. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered and died for
us. In His name, my God, have mercy. Amen"
