My fear is a beast to challenge the heart.
My fear will consume me in any slight plight.
My fear is deep buried, and tough as a root,
But my fear dies tonight, his voice must turn moot.
It shadowed my life disguised as the absence of pain,
But in its wake, no chance of love could remain.
It whispered its poison, soothing and deep,
And I, fool, I listened, my mind lulled to sleep.
But all that must end, for I have a new life to lead,
A lover to find and a promise to heed.
For deep in my childhood my soul took a vow
To live to the fullest, to conquer or die.
I slept till tonight, but oh world beware,
For now I'm awake and free of despair.
I'll live to the limit; I'll love and be loved
Some moments be happy, and some must be sad.
But a difference is marked from old life to new
My fear won't control me, whatever I do.
My soul is now free my horizons have cleared
I'll leave far behind me all that I've feared.
Confront life head-on, and never forget,
To let fear control you is to die with regret.
