Feelings, bubbling up,
Like substances that literally grow,
And are nurtured
Inside you.
If you concentrate carefully,
You can see their colors,
Blossoming in front of your eyes.

Jealousy, a slimy green
Noxious.
It infects you, affects you,
And doesn't go away easily.

Embarrassment, a light pink,
So light, it's almost white,
Always trying to disappear.

Sadness, a deep blue,
It clouds your soul,
Your body,
And your mind.
It can numb you completely,
If you don't take hold of it.

Hate, not black, but brown,
An ugly brown.
A feeling that includes many others.
The orange violence,
The yellow annoyance,
And sometimes,
Just sometimes,
It includes the murky red
Of love.

The red of love changes,
Sometimes an unclouded,
Beautiful, bright red.
Other times, red,
But with a lining of brown,
That can grow around it,
And consume it.
It's true what they say -
Love and hate are two sides of the same coin.

And then, the blood red of desire,
And the deepest black of lust,
The two are often intertwined,
Creating the color of
Blood at midnight.
These feelings, though so common,
Are often hidden,
They come unbidden,
And many times,
Are unwanted.
