He ain't your average guy
He was almost normal
Except of his thing with the eye
You see he lived with an old man
Right by his side
But the old man's eye,
Yeah it got him hypnotized  

Now you can even say he was mad
Can't sleep can't dream
Every time he tries
He just wakes up and screams
"the eye, it's evil,
I swear you can tell it came straight from the devil"
So Mr. Madman what you gonna do?
Got nowhere to run when it's lookin for you

So he makes a decision 'cause he got no choice
Yeah he's gonna listen to his inner voice
Now he's in old man's room
Yeah that's right
He's in there exactly at midnight


Calm as a cucumber
He's watching the old man in his sleep
His heart speeds up as the night goes deep
Step after step and he already close
Moving all around slowly on his tose
The old man screams but now it's too late
Now he's dead, feeling no ache
Yap, the evil eye is gone
Time passes by and it's already dawn

The body is lying under the floor
Finally he can get some sleep and snore
He wakes up to the sound of a knock on the door
He opens it up and ask the men what they were looking for
They say that they are the police
And that the neighbors complained
On mysterious sounds
Coming from the house during the night
But he was very calm, not tight
After showing them around
They got to the old man's room
When suddenly he heard a sound
Tick, tick, tick
And his face started to look sick
He couldn't take it anymore
He was goin' to break
So he admit it all and felt a relief
Now he won't have to hide like a thief

Right now he sits in jail with a guy named Bart
Thinking this is what happens
When you mess with a telltale heart
