Starlit night outside your window
luminance inside your hall
You stand alone, your sad eyes watching
the twisted mirrors of your soul
Tears in your eyes, yet not quite falling
you'll never let them see you cry
So on you tread the narrow path
that surely leads towards your calling
But could it all just be a lie?

There is afar a single mirror
its surface polished, smooth, and clear
And even though your path must lead there
your mind is overwhelmed with fear
For what will be your soul's reflection
inside that crystal lake of truth?
Will it be what you have expected
or will it frighten and confuse?

You take a step
you often feel so tired
sometimes you find it hard to stand
Around you all-enclosing silence
Dark angels lead you by the hand
Another step, and now you see the Gateway
in jet-black radiance engulfed
It gropes at you with icy fingers
beckons you onward
yet you run away
The sun dawns on another day

You know quite well that you can't flee
For when the sun sinks into the deep
the world will don black robes again
and you'll fall slowly back to sleep
And dream...dream...dream....
