Dissect, divide and label
The minds, hearts and souls
Of those I meet who are my mirror image,
And those as well who are the opposite.
Seeking this in the name of pain,
In the name of understanding or peace -
In the name of kinship.
In the name of life and love.
Observe, magnify and examine
Those working mechanisms I may meet
Who may not resemble me at all
To understand what moves them -
And those who do
To understand myself
In the name of peace or common language,
In the name of kinship,
In the name of life and love.
In truth, I am searching for fault lines,
For the infestations in the dark crevices
Of the beings whose paths may cross mine.
The fear that keeps all away
Comes before the trust that beckons all towards
In the eyes of my craving
To learn the same well memorized lesson again,
To keep me too busy
To dissect, divide and label,
Observe, magnify and examine
My own infected wounds.
Like a true crusader,
Pushing out and around and through
And anywhere else -
To avoid upsetting the delicate balance of denial
That keeps the tears away
And fragmentation just at bay -
To the ends of hypocrisy,
By the means of distraction,
On the fuel of destruction -
But in the name of life and love.
